Feast of Saints Peter and Paul
📅 Every year, on 29 June
On 29 June Massello, a municipality of 58 inhabitants in the province of Turin, celebrates its patrons Saints Peter and Paul.
Massello lies in a very narrow side valley of the Val Germanasca, which takes the name Vallone di Massello from the village; its hamlets are scattered along the slope. Above Balziglia, the last one at the head of the valley, the Pis waterfall drops, the village's own emblem, in view after less than an hour on the path to the Colle dell'Albergian. The comune has still not adopted a coat of arms.
At Balziglia, between 1689 and 1690, the Waldensians who had returned to these valleys with the Glorious Return withstood a siege by the French army without being broken. The Balziglia history museum was opened up there to keep the memory of it. Most of Massello's people are still Waldensian, and in Occitan the village is Massèl.
