The village's emblem is an elm. It stands on the lakeshore, in the middle of the square, and it is completely hollow: metal crutches hold it up, and it goes on putting out leaves. It was already there four centuries ago, as the Madonna del Rosario altarpiece painted in 1623 shows. Under that tree the credenza dei communisti met to decide the community's affairs and to administer justice.

The coat of arms tells about stone instead: blocks of marble for the pink quarries of Candoglia, which the Visconti gave to the works of Milan cathedral, and the family's serpent. The purple chief is what is left of the fascist one, compulsory at the time: between 1975 and 1980 the council put an anvil with tongs and hammer where the fasces had been.
