On 13 December Miazzina celebrates its patroness Saint Lucy, to whom the town's parish church is dedicated.
Miazzina lies in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola and in Lombard is Mugina; part of its territory falls inside the Val Grande national park. The climb to the Pizzo Pernice, walked already in the nineteenth century, starts here. Achille Tominetti, divisionist painter, came from a Miazzina family and painted the village often; the Madonello path retraces the places where he lived.
The church of Santa Lucia, patron of Miazzina, has a yellow front, a pediment and a niche where the saint holds palm and dish; a painted band below sets her name beside Sant'Ulderico's. A three-arched portico on granite piers runs underneath; across the lane the bell tower stands apart, bare stone with a clock face.
