On 11 November Trarego Viggiona celebrates its patron Saint Martin; the municipal territory includes Monte Carza.
Lake Maggiore lies right there, yet the land of Trarego Viggiona never reaches its shore: the comune stays higher up, between the left side of the valley cut by the rio di Cannero and the Val Cannobina, ending against the Spalavera and Vadà peaks. It was formed in 1928 by merging Trarego and Viggiona, with Cheglio as the third hamlet.
The two parish churches stayed separate: San Martino at Trarego, San Maurizio at Viggiona, where the old church of the same name, thirteenth century, still stands beside the one of 1689. At the tactile museum of lake and mountain natural science, the exhibits are there to be touched.
