Alice Castello celebrates Saint Nicholas on 6 December, in the church dedicated to him.
In 1270 a new village was taking shape not far off, Borgo d'Alice — later Borgo d'Ale — gathering the people of the old villages around: Clivolo, Meoglio, Erbario, San Michele delle Logge, Areglio. The abbot of Sant'Andrea of Vercelli, helped by the bishop, managed to keep Alice out of it.
The name probably comes from a Latin personal name, Allicus. In the documents the place is first simply Alice, then Alice Vercellese, then Alix Inferior to tell it from Alice Superiore in the Canavese. "Castello" was added in 1862, to recall the castle that dominates the village and its old feudal standing.
