Postua — Pòstua in Piedmontese — lies in a wooded valley in the province of Vercelli, skirted by the Strona, a left-bank tributary of the Sessera. It is not a single settlement: the municipality is split between Roncole, Barinciano, Chiesa, Riva, Fucine and Naulina. Above the roofs, in the distance, stands Monte Barone, 2044 metres.
An old two-arched stone bridge still crosses the Strona, a band of brick running under its parapet, and from there the village can be taken in at once, set against the slope with its bell tower in the middle. Many left here for France, and the descendants of those families come back in summer.
