The town's very name tells the story of its creation. Derived from the Greek word adelphòs meaning brotherhood, Adelfia was officially formed in 1927 by merging two separate municipalities: Montrone and Canneto.
Situated 18 kilometers south of central Bari, this Apulian town is home to around 17,100 residents. The administrative union established nearly a century ago still defines the local geography, as the two original settlements sit side by side within the metropolitan area.
