The patron saint of Palagiano is Saint Roch: by ancient tradition, the solemn festivities in his honour are held on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday following 16 August, the saint's liturgical solemnity.
On Saturday evening, the horseback procession takes place, opening the festivities, with a parade of richly caparisoned horses ridden by children dressed as the Holy Pilgrim. In October, the Madonna della Stella is also celebrated: in the second week of the month, on Saturday morning, mass is celebrated and the image of Mary is carried from the town to the sanctuary, located in the countryside. The town also holds the church of Maria Santissima Immacolata and the church of the Madonna della Stella.
