Bulzi

Province: Sassari · Region: Sardinia · Population: 552 · Postal code: 07030

In Bulzi the masculine plural does not exist: where the rest of Sardinian says sos, here they say sas for masculine nouns too, and it comes out sas canes, sas caddos, sas pitzinnos. It is a peculiarity of this village and no other. The territory, far earlier, had been walked by Homo erectus.

Outside the village stands San Pietro delle Immagini, Romanesque in the Pisan manner, with a façade in two bands of colour and a relief on the lunette of the doorway, from which the name comes. In San Sebastiano a Deposition in painted wood is kept, a rare group, perhaps made in Tuscany at the end of the thirteenth century. At the Funtana Manna spring water still fills four spouts, and the basins were two washhouses inside the walls and a drinking trough outside.
