The patroness of Stintino is the Blessed Virgin of the Defence (Beata Vergine della Difesa), celebrated on 8 September as the Madonna della Difesa: the statue of the village's patroness is carried by the boats of the fishermen of the Confraternita in a procession at sea, in memory of the founding of the village in 1885.
The first Vela Latina (lateen sail) regatta was organised in 1983 and reached its 25th edition in 2007; Stintino is so closely tied to the lateen sail that the journalist Mario Marzari renamed it the «capital of the lateen sail». Among the places of the municipality are the Spiaggia La Pelosa, the Nuraghe Unia and the Chiesa Immacolata Concezione.
