The patron saint of Vizzini is Saint Gregory the Great, celebrated on 2 and 3 September, with the cathedral dedicated to him at the heart of the town. Vizzini's feast calendar is rich throughout the year: the Sagra della ricotta is held on 24 and 25 April, the feast of Saint Joseph on 29 April, that of the Madonna dell'Itria, whose name is an abbreviation of Odigitria, on the Tuesday after Pentecost, and that of Saint John the Baptist on 28 and 29 August.
Holy Week sees the procession of the Christ at the Column on Holy Wednesday and that of Our Lady of Sorrows on Good Friday, when a statue is carried on shoulders through all the town's streets to the church of San Giovanni, in a moment called «A' Cugnunta», culminating on Easter Sunday. Vizzini also preserves the basilica of San Vito, the basilica of San Giovanni Battista and the sanctuary of Maria Santissima del Pericolo, and is known as the setting of «Cavalleria Rusticana» by Giovanni Verga.
