Known in antiquity as Kapition to the Greeks and Capitium to the Romans, Capizzi preserves its ancient lineage through its local demonym, capizzùoti. The town stands as an established mountain settlement in north-eastern Sicily.
Set within the Nebrodi Park, this municipality of 3,347 inhabitants borders Caronia, Cerami, Cesarò, and Mistretta. Positioned roughly 100 kilometres southwest of Messina, it lies an equal distance southeast of Palermo.
