The patroness of Capo d'Orlando is Maria Santissima, celebrated on 22 October. The devotion begins in 1598, when a small statue of the Madonna was found near the castle, a copy of the Madonna of Trapani which legend says had been brought there by Saint Conon the abbot.
Two years later, in 1600, the community built the sanctuary of Maria Santissima among the remains of the old castle: it was the town's only church until the mid-19th century, it has an inlaid wooden ceiling shaped as an eight-pointed star, and it has remained the symbol of the place — so much so that the municipal coat of arms shows the hill of the Madonna, the sanctuary, the sea and the beach.
