In 1925, Capo d'Orlando gained independence from Naso, significantly reducing the reach of this municipality in the Metropolitan City of Messina. Despite losing much of its historic domain, Naso still retains roughly two kilometers of coastline to the north.
Perched 498 meters above sea level in the foothills of the Nebrodi Mountains, the town is home to around 4,000 residents. Its elevated location creates a direct connection between the inland mountain slopes and the sea.
