Longi is one of the «quattru paisi di li funci», the four mushroom villages, together with Mirto, Frazzanò and Galati Mamertino: in the Nebrodi woods, in autumn, people go looking for them the way elsewhere they go out to sea.
The name comes from the Latin Castrum Longum, the long castle, by way of the Byzantine Greek Álongoi before it became Longi. The mother church of San Michele Arcangelo dates from 1559, raised where a medieval one already stood. From here, on their father's side, come Anthony and Joe Russo, the directors of Avengers: Endgame. There are 1,562 residents.
