The comune is a double one: two villages, Rodì and Milici, plus two small hamlets, with the town hall at Rodì. It was set up in 1923 by splitting from Castroreale, abolished in 1927, re-established in 1947 and renamed the year after with both names.
At Milici there is a thirteenth-century palace that belonged to the knights of Saint John — those of Rhodes, later of Malta — and today it houses a museum of the Order; their cross is on the village drinking trough too. In the countryside around, between the two torrents that close the territory, lie the remains of Longane, the Sicel city, with its necropolis. There are 2,130 residents.
