The arms show a falcon perched on an anchor, and they say clearly how the town is made: people used to live up above, in what is now the Belvedere hamlet, where an eleventh-century fortress stood; when fishing began to pay, they came down to the flat land by the sea.
The comune, on the other hand, was born of a quarrel: until 1857 the fief of Falcone belonged to Oliveri, and in 1854 the village — two hundred souls — was to be handed to Furnari. Many objected, and in the end Falcone broke away on its own. It lies between Cape Tindari and Milazzo, looks out to the Aeolians, and has the Rocca di Novara behind it. There are 2,874 residents.
