The name has changed shape a dozen times: Rachalminusa in Matteo Sclafani's will of 1333 — rahal, in Arabic, is a hamlet — then harminusae in a fifteenth-century map, then Larminusa, Arminusa, and finally Aliminusa. In Sicilian, to this day, they say Larminusa.
Sclafani had bought the fief for 550 onze, and from then on the town followed the fortunes of the county: Peralta, Moncada, de Lihori, de Prades, and on from family to family. It stands at 450 metres in the Torto valley, below Monte Roccelito; in the names of its districts — Cubba, Trabiata, Cardulinu — you can still hear Arabic and country Sicilian. There are 1,291 residents.

On 26 July Aliminusa, a municipality of 1,291 inhabitants in the province of Palermo, celebrates its patroness Saint Anne (sant'Anna); the most deeply felt feast, however, is that of San Calogero, on 24 August.
