Positioned roughly 50 kilometres southeast of Palermo within the Madonie Regional Park, Sclafani Bagni occupies a high terrain that defines its borders. With a population of 450, it holds the record as the least inhabited municipality in the metropolitan area.
The suffix "Bagni" was officially appended to its name in 1954 to draw attention to a natural thermal spring in the nearby countryside, where past generations repeatedly attempted to establish commercial bathhouses.
