Read more →Sclafani is the least populated comune in the whole Palermo area, and the «Bagni» in its name arrived in 1954: out in the country there is a hot spring, which over the centuries someone tried more than once to turn into baths.
The town first appears in a chronicle of 938, when the strongholds of Sclafani, Caltavuturo and Collesano were subdued during the fighting between the island's Muslim lords. In the fourteenth century it belonged to Matteo Sclafani, count of Adernò — the man of Palazzo Sclafani in Palermo — who rebuilt the castle and walled the town: today a tower remains and the gate with the family arms, two cranes pecking at each other. There are 450 residents.
