Buscemi celebrates the Madonna del Bosco on the last Sunday of August; her sanctuary stands not far from the ancient Syracusan colony of Casmenae, founded according to Thucydides in 644 BC and brought to light in the early 20th century by the archaeologist Paolo Orsi.
