The patron saint of Campobello di Mazara is Saint Vitus the martyr, celebrated on 15 June.
The town's history is tied to that of the medieval castle, today converted into a private residence, which in the 13th century was a residence of Frederick II of Swabia: the emperor used it as a stopping and resting place during hunting expeditions, when the territory, then still rich in woods and game, lent itself to this purpose. About 1.8 kilometres from the town centre lie the Cave di Cusa, an archaeological site of world importance where the columns intended for the temples of nearby Selinunte were quarried; south of the archaeological park stretches the Acque Fituse wetland park, where particular environmental conditions have favoured a natural refuge for numerous wading and water bird species.
