Giustino

Province: Trento · Region: Trentino-South Tyrol · Population: 743 · Postal code: 38086

Giustino's town hall was the departure station of the cableway that brought down the feldspar from the Maffei and Armani quarries: the quarries have closed, the building stayed and became the council house. In the coat of arms there is a knife-grinder, the trade with which the people of this valley went out into the world, and behind him the Presanella.

In the summer of 2000, at three thousand one hundred and seventy-one metres in the upper val Nardis, a Skoda gun of the First World War came to light: recovered and restored, it gave rise to a museum in the village. In 1928 Giustino was abolished and joined to Pinzolo with Carisolo and Massimeno; it became a municipality again in 1952, and a proposal that came up again recently, to put the three villages back together, came to nothing.
