Carisolo has burned more than once. The fire of the fifth of August 1790 broke out at five in the morning and took the village in a single hour, with six dead; in 1857 the people of Pinzolo, running over, saved a good part of it; and the fire of the nineteenth of August 1873, set by lightning, left three houses standing, sparing neither the church nor the bell tower.
The church of Santo Stefano stands on a spur at the mouth of the val Genova; it is first named in 1244 and was reconsecrated in 1454, when they turned it to the south. Inside are the frescoes of Simone II Baschenis: prophets, kings of Israel, and a Last Supper in which the apostles all sit on one side and there is one figure more, in the foreground, receiving communion from Christ — in all likelihood Judas.
