Mezzana

Province: Trento · Region: Trentino-South Tyrol · Population: 884 · Postal code: 38020

The name says nothing but a position: Mezzana lies at the middle of the Val di Sole, on the bank of the Noce, and it is from that torrent that the village's sporting fame came, with the canoe slalom world championships in 1993 and the European rafting championships in 2010. On the slope opposite, since the late nineteen-sixties, the Marilleva resort has grown, and with it the winter trade.

The churches speak of a territory more scattered than the main village: the parish church of Saints Peter and Paul, the Madonna di Caravaggio beside it, San Cristoforo at Ortisé and, at Roncio, the church of Saint Romedius the hermit, raised in 1591 for a saint venerated beyond the mountains, in the Val di Non. Above the village lie the Malghetto lakes.
