Dimaro Folgarida was born on the first of January of 2016 from the fusion of Dimaro and Monclassico, decided by the voters of the two comuni in the referendum of the fourteenth of December of 2014. The name they gave themselves is a case of its own: unlike almost every other fusion, it does not put the two old names together and does not invent a new one, but adds Folgarida, the ski resort that was already a hamlet of Dimaro. One of the two comuni that made the fusion, in short, disappeared from the name, and a tourist resort took its place. The arms, approved in 2017, do exactly the opposite and put Monclassico back: from its shield come the blue band, the stars and the mountain with the oak, from Dimaro's the firs and the toothed wheel with the sun. The five stars are the five settlements — Carciato, Dimaro, Folgarida, Monclassico and Presson — the four firs are the four ASUC, the separate administrations of the commons, and the oak is wisdom.

The toothed wheel is the only figure that speaks of work, and the work it speaks of is over: the Venetian forges and sawmills that stood on the Meledrio torrent and ran on its water for four centuries, from the fifteen hundreds to the eighteen hundreds. Today part of the territory lies inside the Adamello-Brenta nature park, and every hamlet keeps its own church — San Vigilio at Monclassico, San Lorenzo at Dimaro, the Madonna di Loreto at Presson, the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist at Carciato. On the Trento-Malé-Mezzana railway the comune has two stations. At the census of 2021 slightly more than five residents in a hundred declared themselves Ladin. And since 2011 Napoli have come here for their summer training camp: for a few weeks a year the valley fills with people who came up for football and not for snow.
