Feast of Saint Ursula
📅 Every year, on 21 October
On 21 October Sant'Orsola Terme celebrates its patron Saint Ursula, after whom the town is named; the territory also preserves the Sass de Sant'Orsola.
Around the year one thousand colonists came into the valley from the German lands and scattered across it in masi, isolated farms. In 1408 the church of Sant'Orsola was built, and around it, with a second wave of families come from southern Germany for the mines, the farms slowly gathered until they made a village. Today thirteen people in a hundred still give Mòcheno as their language.
From 1929 the other comuni of the valley were merged into Sant'Orsola, and got their independence back in 1948; the name Sant'Orsola Terme came only in 1986. In Mòcheno the village is called Oachpergh, the hill of oaks.
