The church of the Seven Holy Founders is a Catholic place of worship in the Darsena district of Viareggio, seat of the parish of the same name.
What to see
In 1939 the first church was built as a chapel of ease of the parish of Sant'Andrea, run by the Servants of Mary; the land remained available to the municipality of Viareggio until 1959, when it was granted to the religious order. In 1962 the church was renovated and enlarged, incorporating a volume already used by a shipwright's carpentry. In 1986 it was raised to a parish, with an area that had previously belonged to the parishes of Sant'Andrea and Sant'Antonio.
The church's form partly keeps the shape of the earlier industrial building: a rectangular plan with a single hall, with two small chapels at the back. The interior is completely plastered, without decoration, with exposed pillars and trusses. The gabled façade has three single-light windows and a portico of three bays; on the roof is a small bell-gable with two hand bells.
