Feast of San Gregorio Magno
📅 Every year, on 3 September
On 3 September San Gregorio nelle Alpi, a municipality of 1,607 inhabitants in the province of Belluno, celebrates its patron San Gregorio Magno.
The castle of Paderno is also called the castle of Pisocco, from the name of the owner who in 1096 left for the First Crusade. Pisocco had a gothic letter P on his standard, and that standard has been found painted in the frescoes of the little church of San Felice in monte.
The Regola of the village is of 1405: fifteen sheets written on both sides, still in the parish archive — very few comuni of the Piave valley still have theirs. For three centuries the boundaries in Val Scura were disputed with the neighbouring regole. The comune was called simply San Gregorio until 1867, and it climbs from the three hundred and fifty metres of Velos to the top of the Pizzocco, above two thousand.
