The forty-fifth parallel, the line halfway between the north pole and the equator, passes through the village. The name comes from the woods, which are gone but survive in the name of one of its hamlets, Bosco del Monaco; and water is everywhere here, with the Canalbianco to the north and the Collettore Padano to the south.
At Bresparola there is a siphon culvert designed in 1901: it carries the Collettore Padano under the fossa di Polesella, one canal beneath another. The church was built by the Turolla family and has been a parish since 1497: the faithful then numbered about four hundred. The monument to don Zambello is by Virgilio Milani.
