At Zianigo, a hamlet of Mirano, Giandomenico Tiepolo spent forty years frescoing the family villa with Punchinellos, satyrs and the "Mondo Novo": those frescoes, now at Ca' Rezzonico in Venice, were born here, in the countryside Venetian painters chose for their summers. Mirano remains the capital of the Miranese villas: romantic parks, barns-turned-lodges and English gardens open for strolling.
The centre, with its neo-Gothic castelletto and cafés on the square, has the air of a small Veneto provincial capital. Venice is twenty minutes away, but the rhythm here belongs to bicycles along the Muson stream.
