Antonio Salieri was born in Legnago in 1750: the composer Vienna claimed, whom legend unjustly set against Mozart, has his theatre here — the Salieri — keeping his name and a full season. The town was one of the strongholds of the Austrian Quadrilateral, and the surviving medieval tower recalls a long military history on the Adige.
