The patron saints of Calciano are the Most Holy Mary of the Serra and Saint Roch, celebrated on 7 and 8 September with the patronal feast, enlivened by a procession of the statue and votive «ceri» candles. By tradition, the town centre of Calciano is «divided» into three parts: the «Paese di sopra» and the «Paese di mezzo», separated by the «Muraglione», and the «Tempa», an elevated area above the rest of the town.
The church of the Serra houses frescoes from the church of the Rocca, depicting the Virgin, a Madonna and Child, several saints and the Eternal Father, as well as a 14th-century Byzantine-style copper crucifix and an 18th-century presidential chair. Kept in a large case is the 1300 Annunziata, a work by the sculptor Nicola Pisano, while a precious oil triptych stands in the apse.
