Chiaromonte celebrates Saint John the Baptist twice a year, on 24 June and 29 August; the mother church dedicated to him also holds the mummified body of Blessed Giovanni da Caramola.

The patron of Chiaromonte is Saint John the Baptist, celebrated twice a year: on 24 June, the day of his birth, and on 29 August, the day of his beheading. The mother church dedicated to him, with three naves, may have been built between the 11th and 12th centuries, initially dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Myra; in 1790 restoration work ordered by bishop Salvatore Vecchioni gave it roughly its present form and size. It holds two fine paintings, a 16th-century oil on wood showing the Madonna del Rosario between Saint Francis and Saint Clare, attributed to the painter Aniello de Laudiello, and an 18th-century oil on canvas depicting precisely the beheading of Saint John.

In the right nave of the church, since 26 August 2003, the mummified body of Blessed Giovanni da Caramola has been displayed in a gilded wooden urn from the 17th century. Another church in the town, that of Saint Thomas the Apostle, was granted the title of insigne collegiate church as early as the 11th century and raised to parish status in 1723; after thirty years of inactivity for a long restoration, it reopened to the public on 8 August 2005.
