The patron of Maschito is Saint Elijah the Prophet (Sant'Elia Profeta). On 20 July the «festa piccola» (small feast) is held, so called because it consists only of the procession; on the second Sunday of August comes the patronal feast, the «festa grande» (great feast), which lasts three days and is marked, besides the procession, by festive lights and performances by pop singers.
On 6 and 7 August «La Retenése» takes place, a costume reenactment in Arbëreshë style linked to the founding of the community of Maschito, in the 16th century, by Albanian soldiers; on 15 August the procession of the Madonna dei Sette Veli. On the last Saturday of April comes the «Retna» (Cavalcata degli Angeli, the Cavalcade of Angels), a procession dedicated to the Madonna Incoronata with floats on which living characters represent the sacred images of Mary and Saint Michael.
