The patron of Castel San Lorenzo is Saint John the Baptist, celebrated on 24 June.
The Shrine of Saints Cosmas and Damian, built in 1100, opens for worship during its novena until the first Sunday of August, the day of its feast. The town, which was part of the Roccadaspide district in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies between 1811 and 1860, lies within the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, and holds the Mulino del Principe and the Church of Santa Maria del Monte.
