On 11 November Casteldelci celebrates its patron Saint Martin; the municipal territory includes Monte Aquilone.
Until 2009 Casteldelci was in the Marche: it belonged to the province of Pesaro and Urbino, and it moved to Emilia-Romagna together with six other comuni of the upper Marecchia valley after a referendum. There were 448 people entitled to vote: 232 chose Emilia-Romagna, 53 the Marche. Today it is the southernmost comune of the region, and tradition has it that the condottiero Uguccione della Faggiola was born here around 1250.
On 7 April 1944, in the hamlet of Fragheto, a German unit answered a partisan ambush by searching the houses one by one: thirty civilians and fifteen already captured partisans were killed, and the civilian victims were forty per cent of the hamlet's inhabitants — many of them elderly, women and children. The next day eight more people were shot at the bridge over the Senatello.
