Feast of Saint Michael
📅 Every year, on 29 September
On 29 September Arba celebrates Saint Michael; the village's main church bears the same title.
Arba appears in 1186 in a bull of Pope Urban III, and in 1379, in an agreement on boundaries, a cortina is mentioned: a defensive enclosure in the middle of the village that shut in the old parish church as well. They repaired it in 1571 for fear of a Turkish raid, and it lasted until an earthquake in the nineteenth century.
The village lies in the Magredi, the high plain of gravel where water disappears underground instead of running on the surface; the name comes perhaps from grass, perhaps from fields. The hamlet of Colle, which belonged to the fief of Fanna and came under Cavasso Nuovo, passed to Arba only in 1959. In the coat of arms the two blue bands are the Meduna and the Colvera.
