The patron of Pontebba is the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated on 8 September: it is the fair most representative of the village and most felt by the villagers and by the many former residents who gladly come back to their town for the occasion. The fair brings the Palio del Ponte to a close, naming the winner between Pontebba and Pontafel, the part of the town in the former Austrian zone.
The feast has ancient roots: on 10 August 1342 the patriarch Bertrando established by diploma the market «publico, libero et generale» on the occasion of the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin. Music, traditional food, games for children, market stalls and sporting events complete the picture.
