The patron of Acquafondata is San Giovanni Battista (Saint John the Baptist), celebrated on 29 August. After the Eucharistic celebration at 11 o'clock in the mother church, the eighteenth-century wooden image of the patron saint parades in procession through the lanes of the historic centre, carried on the shoulders of the men of the village.
The events at the Santuario della Madonna del Carmine begin on the first Sunday of July, with the pilgrimage on foot from Vallerotonda and the procession that climbs from Acquafondata carrying the statue of the Virgin, kept in the parish during the year. The municipality also holds the Chiesa di Sant'Antonio and the Monumento della zampogna, inaugurated on 6 January 2011 for the fiftieth anniversary of the first zampogna festival.
