Feast of Saints Agapito and Giustino
📅 Every year, on 1 June
On 1 June Rocca Sinibalda, a municipality of 853 inhabitants in the province of Rieti, celebrates its patron saints Agapito and Giustino.
The castle has stood there since 1085, but its shape was given it by Baldassarre Peruzzi, who in the fifteen-thirties rebuilt it as a fortress for cardinal Alessandro Cesarini. In the nineteen-fifties it was bought for two thousand six hundred dollars by the American writer Caresse Crosby, who turned it into a place for artists and held poetry seminars there.
The village carries the name of Sinibaldo Sinibaldi, who had the castle built. Provinces, on the other hand, it changed three times in a few years: until 1882 it was in the one then called Umbria, later Perugia; in 1923 it passed to Rome and in 1927 to the newborn province of Rieti. In 1980 the post office gave it a five hundred and fifty lire stamp.
