The patron saint of Propata is Saint Lawrence, celebrated on 10 August, in the parish church dedicated to him in the main town, built in the 16th century and decorated in the Baroque style: inside it preserves a wooden statue by Anton Maria Maragliano, a late-17th-century choir and a Baroque-era altar. Propata's parish, although located in Ligurian territory, belongs to the diocese of Tortona, in Piedmont.
The town also preserves the parish church of San Giacomo, in the hamlet of Bavastrelli, built in 1836, with the parish established in 1918 and the bell tower built in 1880: the gabled facade is plastered, with four capital-topped pilasters supporting the pediment, and the stone entrance portal is topped by a niche containing the statue of Saint James the Greater.
