The patroness is Saint Margaret of Antioch, celebrated on 20 July: she is the one who gives this Tigullio town its name.
Her church is the basilica of Santa Margherita, in the centre, which is also the sanctuary of Nostra Signora della Rosa: it was begun in 1658 over the remains of a 13th-century building, the right-hand bell tower and the façade date from 1750, and inside it has a Latin cross plan, a dome and three naves divided by columns. It also holds a 3rd-century cinerary urn with a Latin inscription, the find that suggested a Roman settlement here.
