The patroness of Santo Stefano d'Aveto is Our Lady of Guadalupe, celebrated on the Sunday after 16 August, with the sanctuary dedicated to her also holding a statue of the Madonna. The town also preserves the castle of Santo Stefano d'Aveto, the church of Santa Maria Assunta and that of San Bernardo.
Every autumn, towards the end of October, the transhumance is held along the town's streets, a spectacular festival closely tied to the agricultural and cultural tradition of the Val d'Aveto. During the Christmas period further local traditions come to life, while the nearby Ponte di Cornaleto bears witness to the valley's ancient road network.
