Misano di Gera d'Adda celebrates Saint Lawrence on 10 August, in the church dedicated to him.
On the nineteenth of August 1835 a meteor fell in the territory of Misano, and the damage was negligible. It is the kind of news villages hand down for generations, and here it even made it into the records. The rest of the village's history, on the other hand, is made of things that burn or get taken apart: two serious fires, one in 1559 and one in 1725, in which the old church of Sant'Andrea was destroyed, persuaded the State of Milan to grant Misano an exemption from taxes.
When the village castle was demolished, the materials were not thrown away: they served to build the sanctuary of Caravaggio. Where the little church of San Rocco now stands there was instead an early medieval tower, which the Guelphs turned into a defensive tower and which the Ghibellines of Crema destroyed in 1246. Much earlier, in a field along the road to Capralba, a Gallic tomb was found with an iron sword, fibulae, bronze vessels and an alabaster unguentarium. Two thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven inhabitants in the province of Bergamo, on the border with the Milan and Cremona countries.
