On February 29, 1996, a presidential decree officially elevated Mariano Comense to city status. Known simply as Mariano until 1862, this active industrial center in the Brianza area is now home to 23,500 residents.
The municipality sits at an elevation ranging from 252 to 331 meters within the province of Como. For practical logistics, the Mariano Comense railway station serves as a reliable transit point for reaching surrounding towns across Lombardy.
