Feast of Saint Andrew
📅 Every year, on 30 November
On 30 November Azzanello celebrates its patron Saint Andrew, to whom the town's church is dedicated.
Azzanello is a small comune of the Cremona plain, some twenty kilometres north-west of Cremona, and it borders five comuni: Borgo San Giacomo, Casalmorano, Castelvisconti, Genivolta and Villachiara. In the dialect of Soresina the village is called Sanél, a form that has lost the beginning of the Italian name — the same word, worn down to the bone by those who say it every day.
Its arms and banner were granted in 1995, the banner parted azure and red. Today Azzanello has a little over seven hundred inhabitants, and among them a sizeable foreign community: at the end of 2019 the residents of foreign nationality were eighty-two, and the largest groups came from India and from Egypt. For a village of this size that means more than one resident in ten.
