On the fourteenth of May 1386 a girl of Dovera said she had seen the Madonna, and in honour of that apparition the sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of the Pilastrello was built. Six centuries later, when in 1998 the municipality finally obtained a coat of arms, that story went into it in the form of a gold star on a blue field. Beside it are the black galero, the archpriest's badge, for the mother church founded in the hamlet of Postino, and three helmets taken from the arms of the counts Barni.
Three thousand eight hundred and sixty-five inhabitants in the province of Cremona. Dovera began in Roman times as a small farming village crossed by the via Regina, the road that linked Cremona to Milan, and it has always belonged to the Milanese Gera d'Adda; the neighbouring village of Roncadello, on the other hand, belonged to the county of Lodi, and for centuries the two were in different states while being a step apart. In 1810 Roncadello was attached to Dovera, became independent again in 1815 and was joined to it for good in 1868.
