Saint Agatha, patron of Trescore Cremasco
📅 Every year, on 5 February
Trescore Cremasco celebrates Saint Agatha on 5 February, in the church dedicated to her.
At Trescore there are no towers, no castles, no villas of noble families, and the village's name appears in no documents other than those of 1192: for this reason it is thought the place was never subject to feudal lords. In a plain where almost every municipality bears the surname of its masters, here none was left, and this probably favoured the forming of peasant families of small landowners.
The church of Sant'Agata was built by the village's own masons, and quickly: twenty-four months, from 1757 to 1759. The architect Zanini, who had designed it, killed himself before the work was finished because he was convinced it would collapse, having no internal columns; the church is still standing, with Piccinardi's frescoes and the dome of the Glory of Paradise. Until 1915 the municipality was called simply Trescore. Two thousand eight hundred and eighty-two inhabitants in the province of Cremona.
