The patron saints of Melzo are Saint Alexander of Bergamo and Saint Margaret of Antioch, celebrated on the Monday after Palm Sunday in the church dedicated to them.
In 1553 the Trivulzio family, feudal lords of the town, submitted a request to the authorities for the establishment of the Melzo Fair, together with a request to obtain a weekly market. Still today, the Fiera delle Palme is a historic event on the weekend before Easter, with four days of tastings, exhibitions and displays, a travelling funfair and other activities: in 2022 the 400+1st edition of the fair was held, after two years of suspension. The town also holds the church of Sant'Andrea and the Sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Stelle.
