Before the battle of Magenta, in 1859, the Austrians passed through Robecchetto and asked the inhabitants which was the quickest way to reach the town. Those, so the village's memory has it, pointed out a far longer road that ran across the fields: the invaders got bogged down in it. The comune as we know it came into being a few years later, in 1870, from the merger of Robecchetto and Induno Ticino.
On the Ticino, here, there is a dead branch: it was once a side arm of the river, later cut off upstream, and today it stays alive thanks to the cooling water discharged into it by the thermoelectric plant of Turbigo. Between that branch and the main course lies the Isolone, which together with the woods of the Faggiole and of the Isolone belongs to the Ticino Park: pedunculate oak, turkey oak, black alder and black poplar grow there, and work is done to keep in check the species that do not belong, such as the American cherry and the black locust.
